The Singer And The Joker
Written by Larry Olsen
Well the Singer said, just to keep the record straight,
There's a lot in this world that I don't know.
It's my favourite song, and they say I do it right,
But sometimes it's hard to smile for the show.
Then the Joker said, in the middle of the darkest hour,
Bring me back a glass of something strong.
I made them smile at me, but they should be laughing free,
Something about tonight just went wrong.
Maybe if I had another drink or two,
This night would hurry by and I'd be back with you.
So let's just sing a sad song, a bad song, any song,
Any song but a happy song will do.
Then the Joker said, to the Singer with a smile,
Don't let a bunch of losers bring you down.
Just try to smile my friend, and sing your songs again,
This night will be over in awhile.
